2019: what a weird one. We had ANOTHER general election (not another one?); we still didn’t leave the EU (no matter how many Boomers set their Facebook cover photo as a “get Britain out 😡” slogan); and people tied themselves to buses and trains to protest climate change. 2019 was wild. Whether you thought it … More The best pop culture moments of 2019
Plant-based diets are for life, not just for Christmas. (Well, sort of.)
I don’t need to tell you that the planet is in danger, everyone knows that. But what you might not know is how fashion impacts this. The fashion industry produces nearly 20% of the world’s waste water and around 10% of global carbon emissions. Last year I did Dry January and loved it so much I didn’t drink a DROP of alcohol until May. Not going to lie, I felt amazing. Not drinking myself to oblivion and being hungover all weekend was really good for my physical and mental health. Shocking that! But it’s not all kale-smoothies-and-inspirational-quotes.
A few months ago I wrote a blog about all the Millennial things I’d done that week. Things that would make baby boomers roll their eyes, call us snowflakes, and say “it didn’t happen in my day”. Things that perfectly symbolise the digital-era, falafel-eating, iPhone-using generation we are. But this time, it’s FESTIVE!!!
‘Baby it’s cold outside‘ is one of my fave Christmas songs. Perhaps this is why, until 2018, I had no idea of its problematic connotations. Critics are arguing that the song normalises rape culture. I completely disagreed the first time I heard this theory, but after a few more listens, you can’t unhear lines like … More ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ and other problematic things I love
